Cow, Trout and Teepee

It’s a wanted cow,

escaped from some yard,

or other,

means of release from

the doldrums of being a cow—unknown.

Dumb thing.

Only a step in the right direction,

Mack helped me past the cow,

its green cud chewing, spewing all

over the place.

Trout was a different story.

Lithe, silver streaky smart,

smart enough to guide our way

through the wooded bush, the clearing,

until finally,

the teepee glowed.
